Thanks Dave.I haven't received it yet but it
should be here (Northwest Coast of Canada) by
the 31st.I got it on Ebay and the seller says
it's a redwood top.I've aways wanted an Alembic
so I guess it's possible to teach an old Fender
man new tricks.

Terrace,

I was (am) a Fender man as well.  I own a 1972 jazz bass that is just dripping with mojo.  I bought an Epic 4 string recently, and am honestly floored by the tone, quality of the build, and playability of the Alembic.  They are two very different basses, but I have not been able to put the Epic down since I've acquired it.  I'll pick up the Fender again soon, but I'm favoring the Epic.

It's nice to have both in my arsenal.

Welcome to the club.  I've discovered a whole new world with my Epic, and I hope you do as well.

wm,

I am with you on that. I have an old G&L L-2000 that was my baby, but I just keep picking up my new epic. Something about the hi-fi tone just speaks to me, and the damn thing calls my name.

Terrace, the epic is a cool instrument and a little different than other basses. Very cool.

Guys,
I LOVE this bass! I spent a few days setting it
up as per Joeys fabulous tips and used it for
last weekends bar gig.It has that big fat sound
I've been craving for years. Now I'm thinking that
an Essence with the filter might be my next
purchase.Why did I wait so long ?
