Hi,

I recently bought this Epic, which I really love, and would really appreciate any extra info you can provide on this instrument.

This is my first Alembic, and it has quickly become my #1 bass.

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks Dave, I appreciate the welcome. So, got any good tips for me? I've gone through the forums, so I have some idea what I'm in for, but any other info would be much appreciated.

Congratulations Joe- enjoy it!!

My one tip would be to read Joey's setup post in the FAQ/Must Read section.  If your bass has traveled to get to you and has gone through a climate change or the previous owner had the action setup differently than you prefer it'll come in very handy.

Hi Joe,
Welcome to Alembic ownership.  I agree totally with Toby as Joey's setup is a good lesson and available here.
Congratulations and Play it Healthy!

Mica,   Thanks so much for looking up the record for my bass, but I don't think that's the right info for my instrument.   I thought I may have mistyped the serial number, so I double checked the serial number and it matches my bass.   I also looked at some of the wood examples you have on your website for comparison, and they don't match. FWIW, I always thought mine kind of looked like a flamed walnut.   Here are a couple of pics: Front body

Anyhow, what do you think?  Joe

A little wilder than the top on my Epic (see my profile) but I would think that yours is flame koa too.
