Just purchased this on ebay.  Auction stated bass has non-standard electronics for an Epic, with vol, pan, low pass filter & Q-switch.  Could this have been done at the factory?  Any info on this bass would be appreciated!

You can order an Alembic with pretty much any of their electronics packages that you like, so this Epic may well have left the factory in this configuration. Else, it would have been a clean after-market upgrade because of the modular design of the electronics - no soldering!

Thanks for the response adriaan!  I was relieved to hear that the factory installs different electronic packages on the Epic.  I had read somewhere that the Epic did not have that option.  The previous owner told me that the original owner claimed they were a factory upgrade.  I'm hoping to see that on the build record.  Thanks again! I can't wait to get my hands on it...Joel

This bass originally had the standard bass and treble circuit according to the build record. Here's the rest of the details:

top: Flame Maple
accent: Purpleheart pinstripe
body: Mahogany
set neck: 3-piece Maple with Walnut pinstripes
scale: 34 long
fingerboard: Ebony
finish: oil-look Polyurethane (thin and somewhat delicate)
birthday: April 13, 1998
originally made for: Music Unlimited

The original owner was in California. There is one additional registered owner in 2003 from Minnesota.

There's no record of the modification, but that doesn't mean we didn't supply the parts or even possibly did the work. Not everything gets in the files despite our efforts. But I have noted the state of the bass' electronics in the file now.
