Hi,
Bought a re-finished series I bass that lost the serial number in the process - Harry (BunnyBass) believes the number was 143 and a year of 74 or 75. The base has a loveley maple top and back over what appears to be mahogany, brown pickups, and a scalloped brass nut. Would be grateful for any information and would be happy to send a picture if needed. Thanks, Todd

Hi Todd,

I reported SN 74-86 on prebious thread.
I found it on eBay few years ago.
I have 5 photo but these are not included SN photo, it was only in description.

Please look 2 points:
Top of the head : If the serial number info. is grined off, you should do next process.
In the cavity : There is the number on pod. Mica will suggest more info. by this number.

Hello Todd,
That's a sweet looking Series I. Be sure to post more pics in the showcase section.
The first part of your serial number is the year of manufacture, the second is its actual position in the sequence of Alembic instruments.

Bas(s)ed on Eiji's suggestion above, I've taken the following information off the pots and circuitry that was in the electronics cavity and added a picture. Again, Harry thought the number was -- 143 but couldn't be sure. Based on the scalloped nut and brown pickups I'm hoping to get close. Believe the body is flamed maple over walnut or possibly mahogany core. The identifying numbers are as follows - vol pots marked AB JA 1N200P103AA 10k-0HM TYPE J 3 position filter switch 0987 Cavity

Hi Todd,

I think, your bass had some repair work on electronics.
Please look this thread.
This is my bass. There is the picture of cavity on 4th post.
Hand writing number is showed on (round) filter pod.
The square filter pods are newer or fitted other circuit like signature Activator etc.
I don't know what means the number, but it's a specific.

Can you find another hund writing number on circuit board ?

Looking at your thread above, I see the bass you refer to is an '82 and am guessing that things might have been somewhat different in 74 - 75 as far as parts went - hoping to hear from Mica as Harry (who I got the bass from) was pretty sure the electronics were original though I'm open to the idea that he may have been mistaken. Oh no! Not another 143! I think that makes 3 of them?! Maybe it's a different number, but it will be hard to identify with the records from that time, just a little index card with a few details scribbled on them. At least we have that!

One thing I notice on your refinished bass is that the cavity looks awfully shiny - that many mean the silver conductive paint is not able to do its job.
