Bought this used Spoiler on ebay recently. It is in decent shape, some markings on the body but the neck and frets are good. Im wondering about the pickups - they dont have the Alembic logo on them. I am new to Alembics and really love the sound and feel of them. I have decided to get rid of my other basses because they just don't compare. Thanks for making such high quality basses.

Not all the pickups have the logo on them.
It's rare that someone removes the stock pickups,
but occasionally you see it.

Can you post a couple pictures?

Congrats on your acquisition,
Kris

It appears that pre 1984 Alembics do not have the embossed name on them. . . I do not know if this holds true for all models.

On a seperate thread for Distillates it was noted that my 84 does have the name on the pickups yet an 83 does NOT See Here

Here you go... meet the family from left to right: Fender 62 reissue, 02 Orion 5, 85 Distillate, 83 Spoiler, and my own original Frankenbass, assembled from various new and used parts including: Ash body, Badass bridge, EMG PJ active pups, Hipshot Dtuner and a 80's Squier Bullet maple neck. Last but not least, my Ampeg SVT 8x10 stack. I recently got these Alembics to replace a couple of basses not pictured. I love the Alembic sound and craftsmanship and plan to keep 'em forever. By the way, the Distillate is a birthday gift for my Stepdad, and he's gonna love it.

Hi Mark,

Here's the details I found in the file:

SMB4 Spoiler 4-string bass
body: Solid Koa
neck: 3-piece Maple
scale: 32 medium
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Pearloid (plastic)
originally made for: Guitar Center, Hollywood
birthday: February 14, 1983

There's a note that a crack in the body was repaired, but there is no date.
