Just curious about this one, I have owned it for some time and know nothing about it, recently thinking it might be a Alembic.

The serial number does not match the year. My '76 is #450

Hi,
welcome to the club. Mica should be by at some point to help you identify your instrument. The serial number appears to be early Alembic series instruments. 1977 the year and 101? being the production number. We'd love to see photos.

My '78 guitar is 1100...can you post a pic of the serial # and instrument.
(sometimes a number on the stamp isn't as deep as the others)

Hi,

1977's serial No. range is (about) 600 to 970, so your bass has 700 range that I think.
And check again letters AE---. But I don't know 77's AE serials. (76' AE082 is last AE serial that I know.)

ok, not sure it is one, but trying to find out, what do you think...

So far all I know is that it has schaller tuning machines, all brass hardware, is a neck through, and plays great. Thanks

I'm sorry to tell you that the guitar in the pictures is not an Alembic guitar. What's the front of the peghead look like?

Not a problem, I came across the similarity in design and serial #'s and thought I might have found the maker.
After looking at the headstock of other guitars, I dont have the trademark design, but didn't know how long that has been used.

Sure is an interesting guitar, with some Alembic inspired construction.

There's some knowledgeable folks here that enjoy a challenge.

I'm guessing it's a smaller company if it's the 101st instrument made.
...and it doesn't appear to be an Aria pro,Ibanez (although the case has that ibanez green tint to the inside), or Lado...which are some of the companies that produced neck through instruments in 1977.

Can you post a close up of the medallion on the headstock?
I bet she plays and sounds real nice.

looks similar to an Oasis, but not right medallion.

It is a nice looking instrument. I've seen that logo but cannot think of the company. Anything written under the rear control plate?

I found this info on a similar looking guitar:

From the headstock logo, it looks to an Odyssey. These were made in North Vancouver in the 70's- early 80's and, to the best of my knowledge, were similar in concept to the Lado's of that era. The luthier was Attila Balogh (deceased). He made guitars under the Attila name as well.

The mystery is solved! I knew I'd seen that logo before.
