Yes, it's like looking a picture of my girlfriend kissing some other guy. Anyone have any idea what wood these black spoilers are made from? SOB is heavy!

A wide strap, possibly padded, can help relieve the pressure on your shoulder. IIRC, the solid finish basses are usually solid mahogany.

Painted Spoilers were made of Maple, not Mahogany.
There are a few threads here were you can see one stripped of it's finish.

Most solid black Spoilers and Distillate basses were made for solid Maple body wings. But I will confirm when I get to this record.

peghead shape: Cone
finish: Opaque Black

controls: Spoiler volume, filter, 2-position Q switch, 4-position rotary pickup selector switch, mono output
originally made for: Music Workshop
birthday: Not recorded, but likely November 1988

Belated thanks for the info Mica!

And I still own this bass! It is a crown jewel in my collection. None blacker than a black Alembic.
