Hi there,
Thinking about purchasing this Rogue 5 stringer.  Wonder what you could tell me about it.
Thanks,
G.

nothing... other than it doesn't exist  Just kiddin, but there is something wrong with the serial number you provided in the subject line. A 98 serial would have five digits after the letter, something in the 11,xxx range. I've looked up FC's database for similar serials, but couldn't find one.

Anyway: I keep my fingers crossed for you. All the best,

Christian

Maybe the number isn't the serial number?  I attached a link to the picture.  It definitely looks like the brass plate says 98K1184.  Thanks speicky for helping with this.

Looks like the last number is obscured by a string.
Its an Essence with Europa/Rogue electronics, not sure what the top is (figured Walnut?)
Side mounted output would also be a custom feature.

Ah, so that is an Essence?  He told me it was a Rogue.  What are the important differences between the Essence and Rogue? Not sure what the top is either.  I will ask him to resend me the serial number.  Thanks fc spoiler!

Your welcome! :-)

You can see the main differences between models here: Alembic Bass models
The Essence has another body shape and more basic electronics, also the Rogue usually comes with a bar tailpiece (Essence have the half moon tailpiece)

Key feature to determine the model is the serial number, K = Essence, Q = Rogue  (Look here)
You can see the typical serial number sequence here

Wow!  Those links are super handy.  I somehow missed those while surfing the Alembic site.  I also have been doubly blessed.  I may still buy the Essence, but a forum member here just agreed to sell me his minty custom Rogue.  I will get some pics up next week, when I take delivery of it.  I may go from none to two Alembics in one week! Holy Schnikes!  I'm not worthy... Thanks again fc spoiler.  The info is very useful to me.

That's how it happens! I had no Alembics as of last November, and now I have two and I'm thinking about a third! Congrats, and have fun!

Thanks mtjam.  I have owned so many basses over the years that just didn't do it for me. When I played someone's Alembic, I knew that i had to have one.... or maybe more....
I love how so many people here have Dead/Allman Bros handles. (Mine included!)
