My Series 1 Bass (serial # 77 750)

I just recently purchased a used 1977 Series 1 Bass (serial # 77 750)  with a custom headstock. I've been wondering about the history, the woods that were used in it, etc. It is an awesome bass to play! I've got some pictures of it as well. Most of the picture angles are wrong, but i guess thats how they uploaded hah. Thanks!

Cool,  It looks in exceptionally good condition for a bass of this age, I can't see any wear markings on the body or shine on the pickups from use. Maybe it's been a collectors item or refinished and if it's had the high frequency noise cancelling network upgrade you may have new pickups installed.  
 
I've not see an alembic headstock like that before. Reminds me of PRS Guitars.
It could have been originally made like that or fashioned like that after a repair job who knows. We have seen a few alembics with non standard headstocks for that reason.

I see this is your first post here. welcome to the club. It won't be  long before you get some feedback on this bass from the more experienced members.  
It looks medium scale to me but that could be just the way the picture was taken.  
My guess on the wood, would be a some kind of walnut.

Yeah man the bass is in excellent condition for it's age and it sounds amazing! I do know some history behind the bass, but not everything. Apparently the previous owner of the bass didn't  play it much anymore, but he took very good care of it over the years. From what i was told, the bass was originally made with the custom headstock in 77' and the custom inlay R stands for the previous owner's name, Ron. The electronics on the bass are all original as far as i can tell and work perfectly fine. Im also thinking about doing that high frequency noise canceling upgrade too. And yeah it is my first post. I'm glad to have joined the club and I'm glad to finally own an Alembic!
