(x) 74 Series one missing serial number 74-86
« on: April 28, 2011, 07:00:26 AM »
Hi Mica,
I just found information that may help identify the serial number for my series I. Turns out another member posted a photo from their own archives that appears to be a perfect match in terms of the wood grain.
He (room037) posted the photo and he has it listed as 74-86.
Would you be able to lookup and post the build record for that bass?
I'm re-posting my picture of the re-finished bass for the sake of comparison.  When it was re-wired, the pickups changed positions - the darker one was moved to the bass position.

Thanks very much, Todd

I think Eiji has solved your problem. The card for 86 was filed away in correctly, but I managed to find it today! From looking at all the images I have of this bass, and with Eiji's impeccable record keeping, we all know know this bass' true identity. Here's the SCANT details from the file:

serial number: 74-86
top: Maple (Western)
body: Mahogany
back: Maple (Western)
neck: 5-piece Walnut and Maple
scale: 30.75 short
peghead veneers: Flame Mahogany (sample)
controls: PF6

There is an undated note of a new owner in Virginia, and now I can add you.

Hi number 86! So glad we know your name now!

Phenomenal work, research and result. Eiji, Mica, you're the best.  C'mon, where's the photographic history of early Series basse?  First volume is a series!
