Am I screwed here, or what?
« on: May 30, 2006, 01:05:08 PM »
I have just discovered that the bridge height adjustment screws on my '98 Rogue, have previously been adjusted using a chisel, or possibly a pneumatic drill of some kind!

Anyway, I need to know where I can get some replacements (or who to ask at Alembic). Failing that, if anyone can tell me the exact dimensions, thread gauge etc., perhaps I can get some locally?

Any suggestions on how to get the old ones out would be gratefully received, too!

Cheers,

Andy

Andy:

I'd say call Alembic and speak to Valentino or Mica, though whoever answers the phone will likely be very friendly and helpful.  Alembic's customer service is second to none.  If you email, I'd suggest emailing Valentino or Mica directly, rather than just posting on this forum.

Hello Andy,
In case you didn't notice the announcement, Mica will be out of the office until after June 2nd. Valentino may be your best bet for a timely response right now.

Andy, I'm sure this is pointless and mean no offense, but just to be sure - you do understand that the bridge height adjustment screws have Allen heads, right? As in, requiring a hex wrench?

Since Andy is located in Germany, he will probably have a hard time to find any US sized Allen keys, let alone ones that fit the Alembic.

Well i'm in the UK and I got a set of imperial hex/Allen keys and the right sized truss rod wrench from the local car spares shop.
And it was dirt cheap.
Maybe you could try that. But I would imagine in England we still use more imperial measurements than they do on mainland Europe.

Thanks all, for your comments.

I have subsequently found an imperial Allen key, which will only just does the job (although it slips a lot), but the screwheads are so chewed up that they should really be replaced ASAP.

I'll take your advice and see if Mica or Valentino can pop a couple into an evelope for me!

Must then find a new set of imperial Allen keys too, as my StingRay (can I mention those here?) doesn't care for metric sizes either!
