To Replace a Spoiler switch will cost HOW MUCH??

Now I've heard of spontaneous combustion but sopntaneous price inflation?
 
I emailed the help desk shortly after getting the bass in November.  The response covered the areas of concern.
 
As a follow up I called Alembic today 'bout 11AM PST. I simply needed a replacement switch. The Alembic representitive (AR) was polite. I mentioned the prior email where the cost of the switch was said to be pricey at $45.
 
I was told that two switches ( one at $45 and one at $65) had been used for the Spoiler and while I checked which one it was, AR would check availability. The switch was a Grey Hill rotary switch which according to AR (appearently receiving information from another as from the gaps in conversation) was the $65 switch. OK ??
 
I mentioned that I'm capable of replacing the switch and would like one. Silence again. When back on line the cost of the switch is now $125, the switch only mind you, and it would be better off if I sent in the electronics where upon arrival, an estimate would be done. I would be advised what the total cost would be.
 
Somewhat shell-shocked I ended the conversation asking the turn-around time ( told by AR around 5 business days) and responded I would have to think about it.
 
I've been thinking about it all day. Although the matter was handled politely My view of Alembic Is tainted. After reading many threads on parts sent here and there and all kinds of advice given over the net for long distance repairs I'm astounded at the price escallation from $45 to $65 to $125 in a conversation that took less than ten minutes!
 
Astounded not anymore.Insulted absolutely.

For that kind of money, I had Alembic replace that darned switch with a much more useful panpot, and change the Q switch to a three-way. Cross-Atlantic return postage (for the electronics only) was also covered. And they decided that the pots were in need of replacements, which came at no charge.
 
This was two years ago, so prices may have increased some, but it will be in the same ballpark.

The price quoted in your email was for a 2-way Q switch. If you need the rotary switch, it is $65.
 
I don't have any records of a $125 switch that we sell.  
 
Usually Valentino or I will take calls for repair parts. If you called yesterday, we were both gone, and I'm sure that the person you spoke with was trying to do their best.
