Trim pots on Elan bass?

Hello verybody.
 
I've just read in this page about trim pots in the Elan electronics that should be used to adjust the pickups output level.
 
Since I got a 6 string Elan (pictures will be posted soon) and I noticed that the output volume is lower compared to the other (non Alembic) basses that I got, I was just wondering about what these trim pots were and how they could be used.
 
Actually I haven't my bass with me so I can't check the electronics in order to understand something about these pots, but it could be useful if someone could tell me something about it.

The trim pots are the gain controls for each pickup. You can increase the gains to match another bass you have. Compare both instruments at full volume with the knob on each bass, then turn up these gain trimpots on your Alembic with a small blade screwdriver.  
 
Then, check the pan control on your Elan to make sure the volume at each end of the pan is the same. If it isn't, you can  correct it with the gain trimpots. Since each pickup has its own gain control, you can set the pickup height to whatever is comfortable for your playing, or to what sounds nice to your ear, then correct any imbalance of gain with the trimpots.  
 
There is no affect on the tone of the bass when you adjust these gain trimpots.

Thanks a lot for fast answering (overhere is almost 4 a.m. and everybody is sleeping, but I guess it's working time in your place) and for the information.
 
Tomorrow I'll check my Elan and I'll know if there are those pots or not.
 
So, if I understood correctly, pots just control the volume without adding gain (distortion) or changing the tone.
 
I think that's a cool feature and I hope my bass got it.
