Author Topic: HELP NEEDED: Soldering switch to Persuader Filter (Read 178 times)

Hi fellas!
I ve got a swtich to be used for my Persuader,that has the usual volume,volume,filter control. Its the alembic on/off witch.But I dont know the soldering schematic. Can anyone with similar experience or knowledge please guide me how to?
Pictures will really help,so that I can show the repairman,cause Im not capable of doing it myself.

Robert; I don't understand. What is the switch supposed to do; is it a standby switch to cut power from the battery? Or are you talking about a Q switch?

its an on/off for the Persuader filter..
As you know, the filter is continuously ON on the stock Persuader electronics.

As a technical note, the switch doesn't turn the filter off, it turns the Q off; the Q being the 8db boost at the cutoff frequency determined by the position of the filter knob. So even with the switch present in the circuitry, the filter itself is always a part of the circuitry; with the switch in the off position you can still turn the filter knob and change the cutoff point of the low pass filter. Thus the switch is called a Q switch; and turns on and off the 8db boost at the cutoff frequency.

When the switch is ordered from Alembic, it comes with a set of instructions. This may be all you need; I'm not sure. You may want to try sending an email to Mica. Tell her you have a Q switch that you would like to install into your Persuader and that you need the instructions. You should also tell her where you got the switch in case there is a difference between the switch ordered specifically for a Persuader and a switch that came out of a different Alembic. Post that here as well in case she happens upon this thread.

I'll look around on the site to see if there are any pictures that might show how the switch is wired to the filter.

is a good picture of a Q switch for a Distillate. Yours apparently doesn't look like this, so it may be helpful to know where your switch came from, if you know.

ohh..right! that's what I mean! A 0/8db Q switch .Thanks for clarifying. Also thank you very much for the links.It really helps. BTW, I got the switch as a compliment from Mica ( thank you Mica) So they are genuine Alembic parts. It has C&K 7101 engraved on it.
