Stanley Clarke Deluxe 5 strings.
« on: February 19, 2016, 03:34:08 AM »
Hi there,
I can't found a good 5 string set for this bass. Short scale set is not available in my country, i try a long scale 5 string set but the B string feels a little floppy, so i change to E A D G C what results a better playability with long scale strings.
I would like to use the B E A D G configuration, someone could recommend a good set for this bass?
Thanks

Pl?nio, al?m de usar um jogo mais pesado (ou pelo menos a B mais grossa, para ter mais tens?o), uma coisa que pode ajudar ? subir o ajuste do capo sob a Sizona...

Pl?nio, you can use a heavier set (or a heavier B to get more tension, at least), but you can try raise adjustable nut right under B...
Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!

No answer, but a related thread is here:

I also have a 5-string Stanley Clarke, also tuned EADGC. I don't think that short scale strings are the answer - a higher tension string might help - D'Addario Chromes are pretty high tension (but flat wound) - DR Lo Riders are round wounds with a little bit higher tension. I am thinking of switching back to BEADG, and the Lo Riders is what I would try first myself.

Maybe Pyramids? Their flats have a nice tension, not too much or too little.
