Using my Alembic in a "wedding band"

First, let me say that I have just regained my senses and am now the owner of a beautiful '85, zebrawood Spoiler.  I've owned two other Spoilers and a Distillate over my 25 years of playing, so I am no stranger to Alembics.  It's good to be back in THE CLUB!
 
I have played in the same wedding band for the last 20 years. We have an extremely diverse song list - including everything from Russian folk dances to brand new dance tunes. I need a bass that can easily and drastically change tone
(easily and quickly). That's why I really like the Spoiler preamp. Just a few knobs and switches, but a multitude of available sounds!
 
I'm running the bass through Euphonic Audio cabs and Trace Elliot amps.  I have an EA I-Amp 800 on the way and I can't wait!
 
I also like the 32 scale.  I still have all the bottom I need, but I don't feel like I'm stretching my (small) hands to an uncomfortable degree, like I was with the 35 scale basses I've owned.
 
Anyway - that's how I'm using my new (used) Spoiler!

You're a real wedding player.
Now that's what I call a bass-player. I know it's a tough job: it completely depends on the bass-player if the people at the wedding starts to dance or not. When you have to much drums ...they move, if there's too much guitar or piano ... they start to sing, if the bass is present  ...they start to dance!

Welcome as well!!!!  I too, do a lot of weddings with my Elan 5 string and Orion 5 fretless.
I promised the band leader though that I would put flatwounds on the fretted because he thinks it sounds too modern with the roundwounds.  I thought that was a fair compromise.
Paul is absolutely right about the function of a bass player too.
