I just took a picture of my rig. I use this with my Omega 4 string. After an 18 month hiatus, looks like I'll be gigging again with an R&B band in the Sonoma/Marin area. Time to dust off those rusty strings just one more time!

Bravo. CREST and BagEnd bottom. Is the S18D vented? And do you prefer the Ashly to the Xover in the F1X?

nice!, very nice! As bass players I often wonder if we, out of all musicians, love to play music at a different level than anyone else. We are willing to have the best instruments and the best sounding equipment with no objection to how much the instrument weighs or how big our cars need to be to take our equipment to the gig. We are united by this calling of the low frequencies.

Very true, but now that I'm approaching 50, weight is somewhat important to me now! :-}!

This rig (except for the Crest) is not all that heavy.

Jorge; just for fun, I'll disagree. I would suggest that it's not necessarily because we're bass players but because were Alembic players. There are plenty of bass players out there that seemingly could really care less what kind of bass they are playing or what kind of rig they are playing through. Some may be happy to just be up in front of the crowd, taking advantage of the free drinks and watching the people on the dance floor. For others, being a bass player may primarily be about being onstage and thus being the center of attention, for which a cool looking instrument may be the top priority. And I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss all other musicians. Consider violin players for example; it seems that some violin players will pay substantial sums of money for a particular instrument solely because of it's tone. But I do understand your point. There does seem to be a lot of high end bass and bass equipment manufacturers compared to say those for guitar players. And it does seem to be the case that more bass players are using such high end equipment than guitar players. Or it could just be subjective perspective .

Yes, point taken. It has been my experience though that we as bassists and yes more specifically Alembic players seem to have more of a friendship with each other. I have also seen this among drummers. I'm definitely not saying that other musicians are lacking. The thing is that perhaps guitarists, violinists, saxophinists, etc. seem to be more in competition with each other. We, as the co-governors of rythm seem more willing to share our secrets to good sound with each other. I know there will always be exceptions. It is just something I have observed.
