I'm curious... who has series instruments with the new module... and if you've also had the older one, can you tell the difference. Switching from PF-6 to PF-7 made all the difference in the world on one of my basses.

It's what we call the upgrade 'round these parts. If I'm not mistaken, yours was the first to get it.

Please! $1k5 + lots of shipping is a large wad of money for an upgrade that I can't see/hear before I do it. Any info would be great including tech details (I'm an EE). Thanks

As I understand it, the PF-7 module adds additional tuning so that the null can be adjusted in the RF range more effectively. Ron (of course) could explain it best. For instruments that are not as quiet as you would like, and adjusting the null controls doesn't help (much), I would say the difference is night and day. It certainly was in the case of my bass. The air is getting increasingly stuffed with RF these days, and while some basses may be fine without the PF-7, some absolutely require it... at least for critical applications, like studio-work.

It only applies to Series Instruments. It is the module inside the control cavity with all the trim-pots attached to it. Later Series instruments (until 1999 or so) were all PF-6. I believe PF-7 is the standard now... Mica, is that right? With the control cavity open, it is easy to tell which you have. The number is etched onto the board.
