ONOFFON

Hi there -

My name is Von Babasin and I'm a bassist in Studio City, CA. I have been a member of the progressive jazz rock group, ONOFFON, for ten years now. In those ten years, we have released three critically acclaimed CDs that are now on more than 3,000 websites around the world, with reviews, interviews, Mp3s, nominations, awards, features, podcasts, and just about anything else you can think of in regards to the independent online music movement. We were one of the first 100 members of CD Baby, we're listed in the All Music Guide, and have digital downloads available at iTunes, Emusic, Rhapsody, and 40+ more sites like those mentioned.

The International Online Music Awards has honored for three straight years now - we were first named IOMA's 2005 Artist of the Year on the merits of our first two CDs, Surrender Now (1997) and Your Mind (1999) - then, our latest release, Bridge to Presage (2005), was named IOMA's 2006 Best Album - and in this year's event, our drummer, Dave Goode, was named 2007 Best Drummer, and I was named 2007 Best Bass Player.

Of course, I give all the credit for that last award to the amazing sound of my Alembic...  :D

Cheers!

Hi onoffon your band sounds interesting.
I produce and present a Jazz radio programme here in the UK. If you would like me to play some of your cd's on my programme please contact me by email and I will send you an mailing address to send the cd(s).

If you include a bio then I can also pass this information to listeners.

The web site for the station is www.newstyleradio.co.uk
My programme is the NotStrictlyjazz which airs Monday nights from 8 to 10pm GMT. You can also get it on line from the web site too.

I look forward to hearing your music.
Jazzyvee

You must understand, we do everything ourselves - writing, performing, recording, artwork, printing, pressing, promotion, website - everything comes out of our own pockets. I could easily go broke sending free CDs to everyone that requests them.

And I'm raising two teenage sons...

Thanks...

Ok I will have a listen to mp3-s. I generally avoid playing them on air since the quality difference between them and audio CD's is marked, and in the studio they never sound their best which is not good for the listeners.

Jazzyvee -

You misunderstood. I will still be happy to send you CDs, I just want to make sure you like what we're doing. We're not traditional jazz by any means, though a few of our songs may fit that category. We get comparisons to progressive rock groups most of the time - like, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Steely Dan - not so much 'sounds like' but more in 'musical approach'. Then, some will say Brand X or Frank Zappa - sometimes we describe our music as 'stir fry'.

Anyway, check it out and email me if you think our stuff is suitable. Then, I'll be more than happy to send them across the pond...

Cheers!
