Yeah Willie the Europa's are my fave for 5 string basses. For 4 strings I prefer short scale then the Elan for a 34.
Like you my 5 string SII europa is an amazing sounding 5 string bass, something I've been told after virtually every gig I've done with it.
If these El Whappo's appear this side of the pond I will check them out.

Willie, here is my Europa. This was right after I got it & before I got my AccuGrooves. I was experimenting with playing in stereo with my Series II electronics using a couple of small combo amps.

Rusty, my favorite thing about that picture is that you dressed to match your bass. And you did it to perfection.

I'm such a nut about Monet that I have piles of books about his garden and I try to recreate his themes in our garden and then paint 'em (I call my style Depressionist). You are a monochromatic masterpiece. Every time I look at your Alembic, it looks like it was just lifted out of Monet's Japanese water garden:

Hell, I don't care if you can play a note. I'd hire you just to stand there with that bass. Give the act a much-needed touch of class.

Thanks Ed! I think this was my second gig with my Europa & the 1st with my blue shoes. I've worn red Converse Hi Tops since 1985, but when I got my Europa I had to get some blue ones! I can definitely see my bass in the garden painting!

Is it me or does just about everyone on this forum have a bass lust crush on Jazzy's Europa? I know I certainly do...

Jazzyvee's Europa was the one that inspired me to get mine!

Thanks alembikoa, I had a big lust crush on that bass for a number of years and the previous owner, poor_nigel, knew this and thankfully decided I should be the next owner. He is understandably very particular about where his superb instruments go to when they leave him so I was particularly honoured to be chosen to be the next (and hopefully the last) owner of this bass.

I'm not sure if the previous owners gigged with it at all but I doubt it was used much as it was spotless when I got it and it still is and I use it to practice with all the time.

Here is a picture of it in California accompanied by some of it's  siblings.

The original owner of the Almost Twins Europa series II basses never played them, according to his son. I, and I am sure Thomas, was able to register my Twin with Alembic as a new bass. Here's the 4-string, for those who prefer an even number of strings.
