Many thanks David!

Jazzy, that's exactly what the One10T is excellent for - a (very) compact and lightweight cab that is perfect for practice / playing alone.  Depending on the music you're playing, it can be plenty for even a band/gig situation.  E.g. if you're playing in a small-to-medium room with an expectation for low-ish volume, like many bars/restaurants - especially without a drummer or with lower-volume drums, like in a jazz trio.  Let's be honest, we bassists are constantly getting asked to turn down anyway, or at least I am  ;D
It has a reputation for being super-loud for its size, and that's true, at least in comparison with traditional cabs/combos.  E.g. my old 1x10" Peavey combo only got ~half as loud, and easily weighed 2-3x as much as a One10T + a modern compact Class D amp like a TE Elf.  It is just SO easy to carry.

BUT, don't expect miracles; it might possibly be the best 1x10" cab in the world, but it's still just a single 10" speaker.  Not surprisingly, low bass frequencies are where it reaches its limits first.  So it also depends a bit on what you need out of it.  For someone who plays with deep, heavy bass, maybe no 1x10" is enough.  But for, say, a Jaco-style bridge pickup player, it might have headroom to spare.  I would say it's NOT quite loud enough to keep up with a typical rock drummer by itself, just to give an idea of its limit.
The more "built-in" sound is GENERALLY great for bass, which works well if you're playing through an amp/modeler without a cab sim.  I DO recommend the tweeter.  It's not absolutely essential, but I love the flexibility, and it really bridges the gap toward a Big Baby 3.  Turning it up even halfway is like taking off a blanket.  As an Alembic player, I'm guessing a player like yourself might appreciate the ability to open up that range a bit - at least when you want to.  The high-frequency dispersion doesn't seem quite as good as a BB3, but again, it's fine for a tiny cab at a significantly lower cost.

i only got a coupla video screen captures from the guy videoing this gig, they all turned out blue, this is the only one that you can tell i'm holding an alembic.  in this case the mighty Mark King Deluxe backdropped with my favorite tie-dye.  this shot's the best of the lot.  sigh...

thanks y'all, you're really too kind.  I only got 4 stills from this gig, here's one of the whole band.    i'm backing a quirky singer-songwriter and his drummer buddy.   i'm sure i'm older than both my bandmates combined, i just don't know by how much. i must be a cover band burnout.  this is a refreshing change from performing the same old tired songs that i've been doing since the mid-70's in some cases so i'm gonna roll widdit until the wheels fall off.  for completeness i included a portrait of the grizzled old bass player practicing his craft in front of an actual audience.  my buddies liked this one for some reason.

Here I am last Sunday playing my Alembic 1984 Series I outdoors at the NYC Marathon.

The funniest part is that our keyboardist ran the marathon for 18 miles, joined us for two songs, and then went on to finish the race!

A video of it went viral:

Jammin in my jammies!  ;D I recently landed a gig with a great progressive hard rock band based here in Chicago called the Cyberiam. This is the most rhythmically challenging stuff I've ever had to learn and commit to memory, and the songs tend to be on the longer side, with many different parts. We've been doing silly stuff on Facebook to try and get as many people as we can to my first show with them next Friday, December 18th at Durty Nellie's in Palatine, IL. This is a short part of their song Wilde Things (the lyrics are all based on Oscar Wilde quotes). I probably should have turned up the volume because you can hear a lot of the acoustic sound of the bass. Anyway, check it out. I'm about 90% there...
