My first gig with this series bass having wrestled it back from my son who has been 'looking after it' for a few years.
Cool picture Phil, and a cool bass. Clearly that big Spyder he has guarding his basses didn't faze you. :-)

Great to see you back again, Jack! And nice to see 1687 is working on some BIG stages. That bass is well-traveled.  8)

Yes,  I'm GeePee's dad. I bought the series 1 from Pierre Yves a few years ago and converted it to have CVQ. When we left the UK I didn't trust the shipping company with it so I left it with George for safekeeping. When I started gigging again he brought it over. I also bought a Zebrano Orion 5 string fretless. Nice bass.  Everytime I go back he has acquired another one or two. I'm looking forward to sorting out his latest 6 string Elan when I'm over  in the UK later this month.

Thanks a lot! Yes I have been using the 1687 for my last tour with with HUSH. But lately I am reluctant to take it on the upcoming tours to China because a friend of mine had his acoustic guitar destroyed by the airlines while playing in China recently. I did tour China before the pandemic with my Alembic in a Reunion Blues Continental gig bag, and sending it into the cargo hold of the planes we took. It survived, but I’m not so sure about doing that now 😂

Revolver Magazine is premiering BLAK29's new video for "BLACKOUT" off our release "The Waiting" on Tuesday April 25th.
Warning, there is a very attractive lady featured in this along with my Alembic Custom Excel 5 with Europa electronics and my new Signature Flaxwood guitar in black.

Well here is a twist on the thread. The story is this, the neice of my other half had to do a project to submit for her school 'A' level art exam, and decided to do a picture based on two photographs her mum took of me maybe a year ago.
I had seen a photo of a really early version which was more or less sketched out but not painted in.

Well she finished the picture last week and invited me to her school to see the picture, so i popped over on Friday after work with my guitar. It's her first ever oil painting and the first time i have had my portrait painted and it still feels strange.

The strings are the bronze ones from my acoustic bass guitar and the music is a snippet from a score she found on-line from Musical Youth's song "Pass the Dutchie".

I'm planning to buy the picture from her after her exam and the exhibition in the school. I'm so proud of her, such a talented young lady.

That turned out REALLY nice.  The extra vibration in the strings makes it 'sing'!

It has two Fatboys, and Europa controls. It's PERFECT ! The previous owner I guess was a Metallica fan and blacked it out, but the fretboard is indeed Pao Ferro, which I love the blossoming of notes.

Such a nice portrait! Beautiful!
The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.
