Well, after years of just playing with a clean sound, I am starting to think about expanding my tomes....My main amp is a demeter pre which has minimal eq (the way i like it)....

I have started using a Q-tron, and am thinking about adding something else. Two things that come to mind are the line 6 bass pod xt/xtpro, and the SF2.

What types of things can be done with the SF2 ? Is it just basically an EQ tool? Or are there weird and wonderful sounds to found in it?

Also, if anyone has any experience with the bass pod speak up..im basically wondering if i is just a toy or a serious musicans piece of gear.

In the context of your question, the SF-2 is basically and EQ tool.

Also, if anyone is in the philly area (or wilmington DE or NYC) and uses one in their rig when they play out, let me know....Id lvoe to hear an SF2 live b4 buying one without hearing it first...

As I say always: the SF-2 is able to let you sound like you also behind the corner. So the minimal-eq-that's-me-sound will stay that way on the other side of the pub.
It doesn't WORK as an EQ so the tweaking is different. Some like it and some really don't.
In EQ terms: it is just 3 band. One dry where you can add modified frequencies you choose.
So agree with the Moder: it has nothing to do with effects tough it will work great in the effect-loop of the Demeter I guess.

Well, the SF-2 doesn't do things like reverb, envelope following, flanging, chorus, octave dividing, distortion, etc. The controls are similar to what's on your Series bass, except that instead of just low pass, you have the additional options of band pass and high pass. So when you ask about weird and wonderful sounds, I tend to think that the SF-2 helps make my tone more wonderful (to my ears anyway; others may wonder why in the world I would want that tone ). And I suppose that, for instance by the deft use of the band pass, it could help make your tone more weird. But it's not a chorus, or a divider, nor a ...
