Well, the SF-2 doesn't do things like reverb, envelope following, flanging, chorus, octave dividing, distortion, etc. The controls are similar to what's on your Series bass, except that instead of just low pass, you have the additional options of band pass and high pass. So when you ask about weird and wonderful sounds, I tend to think that the SF-2 helps make my tone more wonderful (to my ears anyway; others may wonder why in the world I would want that tone ).
