Hey Mica, when I remember correctly, ten years ago when I started ordering my custom bass with you, you guys were just starting the run of Twentieth Anniversary models. Now after ten years, will there be a run of Thirtieth Anniversary basses? Curious...

In any case, here is holding up my glass to your new decade anniversary - how time flies!

Hartmut,

According to the Reference Pages, the 20th Anniversary models date from 1989 - making 1969 the start of the whole Alembic operation.

I guess the Sterling basses kind-of commemorate the 25th anniversary.

They gave Stanley Clarke the Dragon's Breath on the occasion of their 30-year working relationship in 2004.

Ah... Maybe you are right, might have been the 25th anniversary! That certainly is a more special number than 35... So no new anniversary line I guess.

Nevermid, I will post again for the 50th anniversary then! With the current time accelleration I experience in my life it will be in only five years or so anyway...

Hey guys, What do you think the 50th might look like? Gold is the usual for 50th anniversaries but we already have gold hardware on instruments. Wait I know, At very least a solid gold sustain block and tailpiece! 18K gold might be hard enough to do the job. How about in place of maple accent laminates in the body, an inlaid gold wire just under the top and back. Gold leaf and gold mother of pearl, or gold dust suspended in Epoxy Alembic logo neck inlays and just to be totally over the top, more gold wire as fingerboard binding culminating at the point of the beveled edge crown headstock. Oh yeah, and don't forget the amber laser L.E.D.s and a Honey/Gold burst finish on a 5A quilted top!!!! I luuvv goolld! (spoken with Goldmembers accent)

The 25th Anniversary basses are the silver anniversary, and they don't just have a lot of silver inlay and plating - the sustain block is solid sterling silver!

So, that means you better start saving for that 50th Anniversary bass now. That 24K gold sustain block will probably weigh more than a pound. In today's prices, that's $5500+ just for the gold, without it being machined and without markup (this will give the guys in the Flitz polish discussion a coronary instantly).

I guess there will probably be a check box on the order form as to whether you want your 50th to come with solid gold back plates (one that would make continuous wood plates seem cheap!)
