Ornette Coleman, looks like an Alembic bass... Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, to minimize embarrassment.

I love Ornette's bassists. Particularly Chris Walker (well, and the inimitable Jamaaladeen Tacuma whose solo work is awesome, particularly Renaissance Man). Sadly for people like me, Chris went on to have a very successful pop career. But seeing him playing bass live with Ornette was a life changing experience. Truly awesome. Of course, Al is no slouch either (it was great to see both of them at once).

I wish I had had more opportunities to see Ornette.
