Moder,

it is in fact a DivX file. I suppose you installed Real-player? Somewhere in the set-up you can indicate if you want to use Real-player as your DivX-reader. If you didn't do that these files only produce an Audio track.
Best thing is to go at www.download.com and download the (free) DivX player 6.
DivX is a software based in DVD-world -IFF I am well informed- and is mostly used to rip DVD's to a computer.
On the PC I gather most of the time the softwares: Quicktime, Windows media player, REal player and DivX. You can get along with the most movie-footages available on the internet.
It will you force to make some choices and do some bookkepping what you want to be played by what but ...well ...that's part of the game!!!
GRZZZZ

Dave,
If you are using the Windows Media Player it sounds like all you need is the codec for DivX. Without the correct codec you will get only audio. It has been a longtime but I think I used a freeware program called GSpot to get the updated codecs for DivX. As I recall it lets you look at the codecs used by a particular file and then allows you to find and dowload them to you computer. It is also available on download.com .

I forgot to add that a search of download.com for codec will bring up several packages that install various codecs on your system.

Thanks guys!  I've downloaded the codec and replayed the vid, and it works!  I like this video a lot.  I like this duo performance better than his band type stuff, which as I recall is more pop oriented.  Maybe I need to go back and watch his DVD again.  Thanks Duncan!

he's doing that up and down stuff with the thumb isn't he? I could never do that. I didn't know he could do it either.

Check this one.
Michael Hampton plays Maggot Brain on his Alembic guitar. This is from the Flashlight Tour of Parliament Funkadelic 1978 Houston Texas.

That's from the Royal Albert Hall in 2000 (as on The Who's DVD from that show). He's got a camera on his headstock which shows his playing close-up. Note how halfway through he uses his midrange control like a wah-wah while playing only with his left hand, then uses his detuner to shift between low E and D, then does his signature two-handed hammer-on typewriter tapping runs. This is done, of course, on his custom Status Graphite Buzzard bass, I assume played through his Digitech pre-amp and Ashdown rig.

And how about a Rodney Skeet Curtis (Funkadelic) bass solo on Alembic Series 1 bass:

The curtis video was cool but I couldn't see the King video. I could only hear it and I used the new Real player

Olie; go back and reread the prior posts, you probably need that DivX codec.
