Just got my 1980 Series 1 Today!!!!!!
« on: March 27, 2006, 01:18:33 PM »
I had errands to run today but canceled a few of them to stay home for the UPS driver to show up w/ my Series 1. 3p.m. he arrives & my excitement builds as I carry this 60lb. box into the house. Cracked it open & this thing is just phenominal! After about a half hour of messing w/ the filters I think I have found my tone. Now I need to see if it will fly in the mix w/ my band. Anyhowe, I'd post pics but you can see it in the For Sale-Trade sec. of the forum under 1980 for sale. Besides I tried to post pics of my Distillate & they were to big & couldn't figure out how to make them smaller. Help anyone, Thanks

Cograts Adam. I am envious. If you get bored with her let me know would ya! On the pix's. If you have a Windows system you can use Paint to shrink the pixs. Or if you have Micro. Photo editer you can shrink them with it. If you need any help shoot me an email of them and I'll shrink em for ya.

Did you get any sleep last night Adam or are you still playing it? I'm pretty fortunate, I can bring all my new toys to work with me.

It's still kind of a shock. However, I've had a lot keeping me busy(getting the band's truck fixed, ebay sales & my wife). So I have'nt got to spend as much time w/her as I would like. I'm going to try her out on my gigs this week, the guys are going to freak out on the size of the road case! I'm going to try to get pics up tonight.BTW that's a good looking Series 1 on E-Bay right now.

The second night was better than the first, simply because I got the trim pots cranked to match the output of my Modulus VJ. I only used it on one song, & hated to put it down. That neck is sooo looong, it is going to take some getting used to. However the sound and feel is just killer.I'm using the 1/4 out, setting the neck p/up for a more traditional fat tone, & setting the bridge p/up with a strange high filterd tone that wouldn't sound usable by itself but mixed w/ the neck p/up it's got the punch, growl, and grind I've  been searching for.

Nobody's Fault But Mine It was on the album Presence that John Paul Jones started to use Alembics. As of now that is the only song from that album that we do, but I 'm going to work this bass into the set for more than one song. I still have to play my jazzes though for that classic Zep sound & look.
