I wanted to share a tune I recorded recently. I originally posted it here in the Spoiler showcase, where it seems to have become lost. You can see pictures of the bass over there.

The tune is called circumambulate. The drums are by Greg DeGuglielmo, and come from a completely different improvised piece of music. I overdubbed the bass bass part with my '76 Rickenbacker 4001 (through an F-2B), and then overdubbed the other parts with my '85 Exploiter through a Roland RE-201 Space Echo.

The Alembic parts are all with the Q switch engaged, and I had fun playing with the low-pass filter at different settings. This is the first time in a long time that I've recorded with the Alembic.

I forgot to point out in the other thread that the Alembic is tuned to 5ths - CGDA.

I just wanted to give props to my friend Greg DeGuglielmo who plays drums on the track. Believe it or not, the original drum track was for a piece that wasn't in 6/8, but swing 4/4! I lifted it out of the original track and recorded the new bass part. But now I'm beginning to wonder if maybe he was playing in 6/8 on the original track, even though I was playing in 4/4?!!! (Here's the original: afternoon stroll - played on a Fender Japan Jaguar Bottom Master 6-string bass.) Nah, it sounds pretty natural in 4/4 too...

If you mean on afternoon stroll, it's a Budda Phat Bass distortion through an Electro Harmonix Small Stone phaser. Actually, there are two tracks of bass - one effected and the other clean.

Maybe I should point out too that the bass and drums were recorded to 2 tape, then recorded into ProTools.
