Alembic Media Player - Download link rigth NOW!
« Reply #15 on: November 11, 2006, 11:06:06 PM »
Hi, Oujeebass

Thanks, great;)

Would you like to be listed on the player then?

If so, we need URL(s) to your MP3(s), NO other format - my Space will NOT work, BUT:
If we list one of your track(s), the info button (below the picture, if you have one) can always link to your band on Myspace, no problem...

Remember, tracks must have 1 Alembic instrument playing at least, hence the name of the player: Alembic Media Player project...

Thanks,
LG

Just a quick word to say that the player is not available for download anymore, and this project will never see the light...

Best regards,
LG

LG, despite the fact that I was one of those that wasn't behind your player, I am sorry that it didn't work out and I really do appreciate the effort you were willing to put in.

However, at this point I still think that A) the majority of people won't do it if it involves more than one step, and B) very few people will comment anyway.

Maybe in another year or so, as more and more people record on their computers, your player will come into vogue!

I wanted to participate, but it didn't seem easy enough to work for most. I would suggest a myspace account be setup and material could be rotated,or something along those lines.

To all the members,

It's a shame that the only people who criticized the idea hadn't actually contacted me to be listed on the player, so could not know how easy or difficult it was, and by the same token put off members who might have been interested.

If you can post on this forum or maintain a Myspace account, you can probably launch my player on your desktop.
But it doesn't matter anymore - the offer is closed now.

hieronymous the player did not involve many steps, didn't need login details or password either.
It only needed to be downloaded once, not twice - and the content/playlist updated automatically, as long as courageous volunteers agreed to be listed, by providing urls to tracks, simple... You said that you didn't want to download a/the player, so how can you possibly comment beyond that?
I will never understand how people can have such a strong opinion and make comments on things they haven' t tried.

oujeebass you didn't reply to my invitation to participate, and as far as it didn't seem to work for most... - you were probably misled by others. I only heard from one member (who got it up and running in no time) and incidentally he was the only one who contributed.

Best regards,
LG

LG, I downloaded the player and found it quick and easy to use. And I am not a computer wiz by any means.
I just don't have anything recorded at the moment that was worth adding.
I for one think it is a great idea and hope you reconcider making it available again.

Hey LG,

I downloaded your player when I stopped by at my home again. I really liked your concept from the beginning. I don't have anything to post yet either, but due to this player project I feel more of an itch to sit down and do some recordings. It is something I always had in mind but your project is one more good reason. Unfortunately though I am still working away from my home at the moment and wouldn't be able to record anything before I am back for long. Anyway, if your project would still be around once I am back I'd be happy to give it a shot.

In my opinion you shouldn't feel discouraged at this point. If you'd give the project more time I am sure it will grow, slowly at the beginning maybe but faster and bigger once more people have contributed.

And besides, there are always people who like an idea and others who don't. I personally dislike BMW cars, but would you think they'd have stopped producing them because of that?

You have a good project going!

Hartmut

- Oujeebass, thanks for the tracks. The reason I asked you the above question, is to show you some magic... i.e; if you already downloaded the player, just launch it again and see what happen!

- Olieoliver, thanks for your support and comments. I heard a couple of your tracks on this forum, and I really think that it sounds great! That's plenty enough to me, and I am sure to most members too...Why don't you get those listed?

- Haddimudd, thanks for you kind words too. I don't like BMW either, it has to be the Porsche 911 vintage (not the newer models) - nothing less/more;) Again, we don't really need the best of the best, as long as we can hear something, that's what count!
Let's get started...

- Keavin, thanks to you too. That's right, this project is to benefit everyone, members, friends, potential customers... and the Alembic family + staff, after all, they want to hear what we come up with, don't they? I'd like to list + hear Mica and Valentino for instance.
And when things get going, we will invite Mr Clarke himself! He won't refuse, he is a Sagittarius like me...

Well, let's keep it underground for now, until this project gets the attention it deserves i.e:

For now, please email me the URL(s) to your MP3(s) directly (NOT on the forum), and I will send you back the player, in case you haven't downloaded it already.

Many regards,
LG

PS: to the members who would like to get a copy of the player -  without contributing, no problem at all, just send me an email, I'll send it to you.

LG, most of my stuf is in WMA format. But I'll find some of the better tracks and convert them to MP3 then email the link to you.
I'll need to reinstall the player I deleted it when you said the project was over. Could you email it to me. Thanks
