Dragon Wing 8string
« on: January 09, 2007, 03:18:50 PM »
I had this thread up for discussion some months ago.
After Tears for John I am thinking about an 8string DW.
What do you all suggest to be a great headstock on it to match
the 8 tuners?
Any suggestions are warmly welcome!!!

Many thanks
Oliver (Spyderman)

Knobby.

Knobby peghead looks best for odd-numbered string instruments, too.

PS-My opinion, of course.

I happened to be in 's-Hertogenbosch today and I walked past this wonderful creature ...

Perhaps the wings might inspire a variation on the V peghead?

Yeah,
I remember that Mica once said that they had buildt an 8string Spyder for John Entwistle with a V-peghead although I have never seen a picture of it.....

Dank je Adriaan, tot kijk.....

Hi Oliver,

Alembic installs 8bass pegs for 8string bass usually. This is my mere guesswork that using guitar peg for octave string and making machine head a little larger make it possible to install 8pegs on DW head shape. Then it might better to arrange 6pegs on upside 2pegs on downside.

BTW, what kind string do you use on your spyder 8? I?fm looking for string for my  89SC5460 8string.
