Hey Keith,

Can you steer me to a site with ELF's or am I just not to smart? Are those eden's or something?

Thanks, Paul

Hey Bill,

I like those tonetubby's. It's just that I would have to keep them away from some old friends of mine. Who knows, I might wake up the next morning after a party and have found that my cones had been cut out, rolled and smoked.

But at least there wouldn't have been any need for zigzags, just roll and light!

Signed, Cheet and Chong

P.S. It almost sounds like that's what I got ahold of when I answered you last night, I was kind of out of it-No?

Paul (mele),

ELF is a trademark/patent name that Bag End is no longer permitted to use. They now market the same products under the Infra name. Bag End makes a bunch of great stuff; the ELF or Infra range refers to a series of low frequency cabinets (from about 100 Hz down to either 18 or 8), which require the use of a special crossover component to drive them.

I happen to have an ELF 18 and Deep Red 2x10 (forget the model number) and love them, but can't offer any useful comparisons to others.

Paul,
Bob got to the ELF answer before me.

I have some Carvin stuff. In my opinion there is no comparison between my Bag End 2X10 and Carvin 2X10. The sound of the Bag End is head and shoulders above the Carvin. It also has a better frequency response. I also feel the Eden 2X10's I have heard sound much better than the Carvin. Of course there is a big difference in the cabinet prices.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the high end cabinets. What it really boils down to is which one has the tone characteristics you like. The only way to determine this is to listen to the various manufacturer's cabinets.

IIRC, there's a strong link between ELF and Alembic in that Ron Wickersham was involved in the development.

That's interesting to know also adriaan. Hey Keith or Bob, do you know of sites that retail those speakers?

Paul,
I would expect anyone who sells Bag End instrument speakers will also sell the Infra sub-woofers but they are probably a special order. The best place to start is the Bag End web site: http://www.bagend.com/

I got my 2X10 through Bass Central. The 18 ELF was a used purchase from another club member.
