An Alembic perk
« on: April 05, 2007, 05:43:11 PM »
Hi

As i said in another thread i have been to try out some new amps and the salesman gave me a price for an amp (which was much too high) he then asked what bass I played i mentioned my Alembic He took A hundred pounds off .

I guess Alembic says A)class
B)knowledge
and C)Unblagability(dont think thats a real word but hey)

Either that, or it's a sales technique...

----
SalesRep:  So, what kind of bass do you play?

Shopper:  I have been playing an Erglesmurf.

SalesRep:  Arglesnorf?  I love those!  Let me drop the price on this   amp from $200 over market to $100 over market for you.

I didnt actually

But i found one I will buy in a few days A Roland bass cube i just wanted a smaller amp for romm practice and the occasional jam while im at uni.

I tried it at the shop and was just knocked out.

I would recommend

To be honest it was a shop called sound control we have here in the UK and they are not known for their great prices.

Do you have a shop chains like that? massive chains that dont really care if you buy anything or not and will try their best to rip you off.

Maybe Sam Ash but i have no idea im just going on the ad in bass player

Andrew,
You are correct Sam Ash is one and Guitar Center the other. Both carry the same basic merchandise, provide horrible customer service and are not known to provide the best prices.

Ya gots ta know sombody. Even then it can be hard to get a really great, wow that's awesome price. I usually get, Oh he only plays Alembics, he wouldn't touch what we sell. But I always get first call if anyone sells a used Alembic to the Paramus Ash store. Picked up a Vermillion Essense, F1X and SC Deluxe that way.
Sometimes you do come across somebody who actually cares about the customer. If you are a drummer, go see Johnny Rago at the Ash store on rt. 22 in Plainfield. He is amazing for customer service. How many guys would deliver a kit to your house AND set it up for you?

I've bought a bunch of stuff from samash.com.  I've always experienced excellent customer service, good prices (I check aorund.  When I've bought from Ash, they had the best price or equal to the best price.)  No tax, often free shipping.  No complaints.

I've also had good service from samash.com. I've also bought from musiciansfriend.com (GC's online store) and had good service and price.
If I were to buy something large like a new amp though I'd probably buy through Bass Central. Beaver is real good to deal with and always prices right.

I'll second Olie's comments on Bass Central and Beaver - great products, huge inventory, easy to deal with, always responsive.

I got my MK5 there and have been delighted.
