Modifying an Electrum???

Hi,
 
Wondering if I could have Alembic install the CAE Pre-Amp and effects loop in my Electrum. Will they take in one of their own for a modification?
 
I emailed Alembic through the webpage but never heard back...

I don't see why they wouldn't do it if it is possible.  
I bought some alembic pickups off ebay and sent them to Alembic and they serviced them and the electronics and did an upgrade for me as well.
 
I think there may be a delay in reply since Mica is not around much  at the moment due to becoming a mother.
But they will reply.

Alembic does do upgrades as long as there is room in the electronics cavity for the package you are upgrading to.  However, they do not install other company's electronics packages into their instruments, and I'm pretty sure that would apply to the CAE preamp.  (Guys, correct me if I'm wrong about this.)  The only exception I can think of is for the addition of certain midi pickups, as it does seem to me that I've seen some threads on that subject here.  If you're looking specifically for an effects loop, you might condider upgrading the electonics to that found in the Tribute.
 
And as Jazzyvee noted, the shop has been recently blessed with a new arrival, and the daily routine has been understandably affected.

Hi Mike, welcome and congratulations on acquiring an Alembic guitar.
 
Alembic won't fit a CAE preamp; it's not compatible with Alembic electronics.  It's designed to be an add on to a conventional, passive guitar.
 
So you have two very different choices:  sticking with Alembic electronics or abandoning them.
 
If the Electrum has a summing amp (which it probably has, but I don't know), Alembic might be able to add an effects loop.  Or you could follow Dave's advice and upgrade to Tribute/Further electronics, where each pickup has two preamps, six in total!  I would advise you to stick with Alembic electronics,  they are the best.
