If I knew well in advance I would make the trip to wherever to meet Fellow Club members!!
I think other members may feel the same as I do. I think it would make this club a little more personal if we had some sort of face to face encounter.
BEst Wishes to all!!

Keavin,

Yeah man, this may actually happen with Mr. Stanley Clarke himself.  I am in the process of soliciting a venue big enough to accomodate at least 100 people to start with.

Peace,
Darrell

Great! sounds good, this could possibly be an annual event for bassplayers in general, but it would be sponcered by club alembic, also it can be to promote alembic's latest gear, basses, t-shirts coffee mugs etc... or what ever. and what will be a big draw is the appearence of some big name bassplayers and demonstrations of alembics latest stuff,Hey i think were on somethin!!!

If you really want this to work out, you know, planned well, all the logistics considered and addressed in advance, etc., you are undoubtedly going to have to get some guitar players involved. LOL

Bill, tgo

P.S.  If you are considering the Bay Area for such a gathering, the city of Oakland has some very nice facilities that they rent out VERY inexpensively.  My wife and I rented one for our wedding three years ago - a beautiful wooden lodge at the base of the Oakland Hills - holds about 125 as I recall.  Big fireplace, big well equipped kitchen, set amongst trees and woods, good parking, all this for only $75 an hour!  ($65 an hour for Oakland residents).

I wouldn't doubt Stanley's willingness to attend, but until you work out the schedule it's far from a guarantee.  He's got to be a busy man with appearances, so I don't think you can make that categoric a statement until he responds with a yes for a given date and location.  I hope it works out, and I hope I can be there, but there's a lot of ground to cover first.

Keavin,

Yeah, I'm hoping this will actually turn out to be a regular event.  We'll stay positive as we go.

Ibpesq,

Thanks for the tip, very much appreciated, I'll check it out.

bsee,

Yeah, there is a lot of ground to cover, but it's very possible.  Thanks for your support.  Keep in touch everybody.

Peace,
Darrell

I agree with Bill, an Alembic gathering should be bassists, guitarests, and even pre ampists. I know guys who play others' instruments but swear by Alembic's rack equipment.  Never been to Oakland but I love the Bay area in general and any town with a Gerry Adams Street can't be all bad.

Darrell,
I'm impressed. You have certainly stirred up some enthusiasm.  Well done! I can't wait to see a date. Maybe I can work that trip out after all.

Sam,

Thanks, I am pretty ambitious with this, and I will do my best to see it through.  Thanks for the support.  I will be meeting with respective managers of at least three venues from Sacramento to Oakland to include other members suggestions.  It's all about networking, sharing ideas, and having a great time meeting everyone, and putting a face to some of these names here in the club.

Peace,
Darrell

Hey Dragonslayer,

I live in VA (Winchester) and own 2 Alembics, a 6 string Essence and a 4 string fretless Orion.  I would love to meet up, as there is no one in this area that has even heard of them let alone actually owning one.  Its a Fender / Ibanez crowd for sure.

I've met another Alembic owner at a Guitar Center in Fairfax, but it was months ago and I don't recall his name.  He was showing folks a 4 string Tribute Spider bass, but recall him mentioning owning others.  Could that have been you?

In any case, say the word and I am there.

You guys are making me REALLY jealous.  Is there anyone out there living in Colorado (specifically NW CO or even eastern UT or SW WY)?  Everybody around here has never even heard of Olympic.

Yeah, maybe we could.  I wouldn't mind hearing what some other Alembics sound like.  I love my Epic but it would be cool to hear the filters and Qs.
I would travel a little ways to get together.  Up here in the boonies you have to travel to do just about anything (except be in the mountains).
If there is anyone in the area we could get a thread going and discuss it.

Hey Richbass,

Oddly enough I came from your neck of the woods, growing up in Ogden Utah.  I bought both of my basses at Bass Northwest when taking road trips up to Seattle.
