pardon my ignorance...but is there a relationship with the Wickersham's and BagEnd? If so what is it..if not I apologize for the strange inquiry. I'm pretty sure they have somthing to do with the ELF system...but how about the speaker cabs?

they use to be called alembic cabs,,,I know that alembic built the famous wall of sound sound system,which is i think bag-end got the origonal idea from (OR) bag-end and alembic once were together on that project?(i could be wrong though)i use two bag-end cabs w/15s (JBL's).

Having been a Bag End (Modular Sound Systems, back then) employee for a short time in the 80s, I was aware that there was a connection of some kind. Susan has spoken about it. I could be wrong here, but I believe that Ron Wickersham invented the ELF system and is, pretty much, the godfather of time-align technology. I believe his relationship with Jim Wischmeyer (sp?) of Bag End involves technology in this area.

Just a guess at this point - my memory isn't what it could be. =)

If you go to the Bag End site you will find info on Ron's work. The ELF is manufactured under licence from Long/Wickersham Labs under a U.S. patent.
BTW Bag End introduced a new sub with 4 21 or 24speakers. (I can't remember, too many low frequencies!)

Bag End used to have the license to manufacture the ELF; that's no longer the case.

thanks for the replies! It seems everything I love about bass tone...the Wickersham's have something to do with it. I bought a SWR 1x18 cab in the late 80's and it had a BagEnd speaker in it. Is there an SWR connection as well?

Is there any publication with the history of innovations that the Wickersham's have made in bass technology? If there isn't a book about this, there should be.
