Hi. Have an F1X that I would like to use my AudioArts 4202B 8 band parametric EQ as a filter. I would like to us it in the effects loop since I use the Bi Amp outputs. The EQ has only balanced low impedance I/O, and of course the F1X effects loop is UnBalanced only. So, I beleive I may need to use one or two Direct Boxes, to get the impedance to match. Otherwise, the signal strength may be too weak returning from the EQ. I would use the Super Filter, but I cannot afford it now. Any help is most appreciated. Mark H.

Hi Mark, welcome to the group.

I haven't been able to find anything on the 4202B. Does it have a gain control? I don't think it would hurt to just try it in the effects loop and see what happens. I have a reverb unit that also only has balanced low Z I/O. I had a hard time getting it to get along with the other members of my rack; it ended up out of the effects loop and in the chain between the F-1X and the power amp. Can the 4202B be setup as a 4 band stereo unit? If so, I suppose you could run the high output to one channel and the low output to the other. You would still have 4 band parametric EQ available for each side.

Sorry, I mistyped, should be AudioArts 4200B. Yes on the gain controls set to full. I Tried it in the Effects loop; signal too weak. It works just fine as a Stereo (4/2) when connected to the Hi Pass/Low Pass outputs. I was just hoping to get all 8 bands before the crossover! I though i read somewhere that the SF-2 used in the Effects loop. Anyway, thanks and regards! Mark

Yes, the SF-2 works fine in the effects loop.

From the SF-2 site page; a jumper block inside the unit provides signal amplification of 0 dB, 10 dB, and 20 dB for the preamplifier circuit by selection of feedback resistors. The unit is set for 10 dB amplification when shipped from the factory.

One other thing you could try instead of the direct box; if you use a compressor/limiter, you could try running it in the effects loop ahead of the EQ and adjust the compressor's output gain to get a good input signal to the EQ.

If you go with the direct box, let us know how it works.
