Hi, i just received my first Alembic, a superb Epic5. Great bass, i love the tone and i've found it here in the Alembic club. My first Alembic finally! I only have a noise problem. I have a big Varilight sitting right in front of me where i play and the thing makes the bass pick a lot of noise. High pitched electrical noise, very anoying. I was playing an active MM Stingray5 and it never picked that noise. The control cavity in the Epic seems isolated with white paint, could this be the prob? Maybe it needs better isolation? I need some advice on this. Thanks for your help!

Hi Denis, congrats on the Epic! The white paint is shielding paint and is very effective. One thing to possibly look for; check the control cavity to see if there is a ferrite bead. The bead is a cylinder, looks like a short water pipe, that the leads from the pickups pass through. If you're getting noise and you don't have a ferrite bead, then that may be the problem. If it's missing, you can order one from Alembic.

Hi Denis.

Welcome to the club and the wondeful world of Alembics. I assume by a varilight you are talking about what we here in the states call a dimmer switch? If so I've found dimmers to be a constant source of interference on many instruments, Alembic, non-Alembic, regular passive instrument, you name it. In my experience, the amount of interference increases as the switch is dimmed. When it is turned all the way up to the brightest possible setting, (or completely off), the interference usually stops. Of course, with an Alembic, that little piece of metal pasta - the ferrite bead - helps too. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I'll check tonight if the ferrite bead is there. And Bill, the VL is a stage lightning equip. that turns 360 and changes color, a lot of data goes in that thing during the show and my Epic picks somje of it i,m gonna post some pics soon. Thx again
