Hi, I just got an F1-X and I'm learning how to use it myself. You can go to the Product Info page on Alembic's website for your information.

The DI can be set to PRE- (no volume control)or POST-(uses the preamps volume and tone controls), by flipping the switch on the front panel.

I believe there is one tube.

Hope this helps.

Hi dnburgess,

I am using the F-1X about a year now. My answers to your questions:

1. no idea, but the impedance is 600 Ohms
2. one, a 12AX7 for the input stage
3. yes

I modified my F-1X a little because the DI Out volume level is also affected by the pre/post switch. the post volume is very hot and approx 20dB more than the pre volume. I added a -20dB voltage divider to post volume which was also used in the older versions of the F-1X. Now the volume does not change any more when I switch the DI pre/post.

Don't leave home without it! I just picked up my 3rd from Bass Emporium. I got my first about 14 years ago. It still sounds great. Only chaged the tube once on 2 units. Not too bad considering.I used to use the xover but now I run my QSC PLX's in parallel from the full range out. I've found that most sound men will still mike the cabs even though you give them the DI, hence full range out to the cabs.
