DS-5R question: plugging another bass INTO front panel MONO OUT jack?

I am curious about those of you who have DS-5R rackmount Series power supplies. For simplifying your rack setup, when you use a bass other than the Series, can you disconnect the 5 pin cable from the front of the DS-5R and use the mono output jack as an INPUT? Plug your bass in there and have the rear mono output still go to the amp?
 
Reason I am asking is that if the front and rear jacks are unswitched and in parallel (both tied to the 5 pin output), that would work. That would mean you could always leave the mono cable going to a single amp (not a stereo setup, anyway) and if you have to plug in a non-Series bass, just use the other output jack on the front to patch thru the DS-5R.
 
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

The front and rear output jacks are wired in parallel and this wiring is not effected by the mono / stereo switch. If you are using the mono output jack in the back to drive a mono amp (pre or integreted), then you can use the front Mono input for another non Series bass.
 
You'll probably have to adjust the volume of the amp or the bass to compensate for any differences between the output levels of the Series and the other bass.

Peter, thanks for the answer. That is great. I am guessing that Mr. Wickersham is the kind of guy who hated crawling behind racks to move cables around, and found the best way around the problem. :-)
