Guys,
this bass is currently for sale with a dealer in Germany.
It is advertised as 64 Gibson TBird which is said to have
been customized around 1976 by Alembic as followed:
- Brass Bridge and Tailpiece
- Addirional original TB pickups
- Electronics (no further explanation on them)
- Custom fingerboard inlay by Larry Robinson
   (Abalone, MoP, Ivory, Rosewood, Sterling
     Silver)
- Headstock is additionally laminated on the back
   to add strength ?!

It is said that the origins owner was a guy named
David Strelz.  The bass was in a Sotheby‘s auction
In 1983 and the ad says that it once had been presented
to JE and Alan Rogan ?!

The bass comes with a newer TBird case and it is said with
full Alembic paperwork of the customization as well as
CITES paperwork.

What do you think?
Does anyone know this bass?

Greetz from Germany.

I would love to see the Alembic paperwork on this. I would also be cautious with export, it does look like ivory in the inlay.

Hi Mica,
great to hear from you.
Hope all is well.
Yes, there is indeed ivory on the fingerboard and the seller
says it has full Cites.
I will ask the seller if he is willing to share the paperwork.

Thanks! I don't have files for non-Alembic instruments, but it would be nice to start gathering up information if possible.

Fascinating instrument. It sure looks consistent with ca. 1976 Alembic. If it can indeed be authenticated then it'd be great to post a thread especially for it over here. https://club.alembicguitars.com/index.php?board=696.0

Sorry, I can't confirm this receipt. It doesn't say Alembic on it, and while there were times we might run out of preprinted receipt tickets, I can't say 100% that it wasn't a form we used. When I've seen generic forms before, they always had at least a rubber stamp with our name and address on it. I don't recognize the handwriting here, and none of the work is described on the form. It doesn't feel like much a receipt, because there isn't even an amount.
We didn't keep records of these jobs like the instrument files we keep for builds.
Looking at the electronics might provide some other clues.
