Here we have a 1986 Alembic Exploiter Left Handed. Some of you might have seen this come up years and years ago on Reverb. It was more or less a barn find and a half. When it arrived it was in pretty rough shape. Between myself and the great guys up at Prana Custom Guitars in PA, we brought it back to life. It had been in a shed or basement neglected for what looked like years and years. The biggest repair was the dreaded output jack which to this day I wish would not be attached to the top ! That had caved in. It was re-inforced with epoxy and is prob now the strongest part of the bass. The prev owner had covered the break with an LP style switch plate. After all the work we decided it looked great continuing to keep the switch plate there.
Here is what had been done:
- Full refinish in amber lacquer
- Replaced broken 12th fret marker with abalone
- Abalone inlay added under headstock logo
- Full fret level, crown and polish
- Brass tarnish polished out
- Elec rework and upgrade to preamp with dual int pickup level controls
1986 Exploiter/Persuader base model, left handed. Quilted maple over mahogany, 3pc neck, PJ pickups, V-F-Pan preamp.
Comes in a very large Epiphone case which is not an exact fit however will be well padded.
What can I say good Alembic folks, this is a 1986 Alembic and has the years on it but has been brought back to life as much as it could be. It plays very well and certainly has that Alembic ring. I hardly get a chance to play it so it needs a good home where it can be well played and admired.
