Currently, the forecast here for this Friday night and Saturday is 6 inches of snow (and very cold); but the forecast keeps changing.  I'm assuming an impassable driveway for 3 to 4 days.

Still not snowing here, temps still in the 10° to -15° range.

I finally ventured out today. I could have gotten out anytime since Monday, just had no reason or desire to. I have to run a couple guitars, a banjo, and a cello back to customers tomorrow. And more importantly get paid by the store for January... go to the bank with the check, and then to the store to pick up some more water for coffee. Which no matter how much time passes still feels unjust... I spent an entire career in water treatment yet I have to buy potable water now.

I kinda' half don't listen to the weather forecast anymore. It doesn't necessarily apply to where I live. Best way to know what the weather is today is to walk out on the porch. Winter sucks rocks.

The temps hovering no more than a few degrees above double digits is getting old.

On the plus side, when it does snow it is light and fluffy.   I also find shoveling to be a purposeful task that brings joy, outside shoveling Ma Nature’s fluff brings a focused peace to my mind.

The wind cutting through clothing and finding openings can be distracting to that joy.   Wet and heavy conditions makes it an arduous task that must be handled cautiously to insure a spasm free lower back/sciatica (read: getting old)

Which reminds me; I meant to cut firewood today and then completely forgot about it.

For my first 50 years or so, I, too, loved the Tao of the shovel*.  Then my back made me buy a snowblower, and I really dug it, too.
Now, alas, i am too much of a gimp to even do that; gotta pay some.
Bummer.

Which reminds me; I meant to cut firewood today and then completely forgot about it.

I've still got a stack in the garage and a wheelbarrow full of wood that I put up for last weekend's storm in the shed. I've also brought in our space heater from the trailer. Between the two we can usually keep the important parts of the house above 60 and the areas with plumbing well above freezing. If worst comes to worst both of the propane tanks are full on the trailer so I could fire up its furnace for the other folks and keep the battery charged with the generator.

Currently, the forecast here for this Friday night and Saturday is 6 inches of snow (and very cold); but the forecast keeps changing.  I'm assuming an impassable driveway for 3 to 4 days.
They are still saying 3 - 6 inches of snow here but there are bands where the amount could be higher. With all of the ice and sleet we have hanging around and the colder weather this week there won't be much snow melting. I'm more concerned about the winds they are predicting on Sunday. With 25 - 30 mph gusts I expect some power outages as the extra heavy snow laden pines start snapping.

As to getting out we'll have to see. We have a neighbor behind us who does grading and when we have heavy snows he is known to come over and clear the road in front of  our houses.  If he catches you outside he'll ask if you'd like him to do the driveway as well. Regardless I expect the schools to be closed or on remote learning next week.

Still coming down here. I went to the mailbox earlier. Took a couple pictures from the front. I've probably got 8" on the ground here now, combined with what fell last weekend.

We didn't get a lot of snow. Maybe a couple of inches.

So Dave have you opened a luge run on that driveway of yours?

That would be way too dangerous!  :)   Been out past two days working on driveway; very slippery, progress is slow.  Street has not been plowed yet, so there's no hurry; well, except for the fact that coffee is starting to get a little low.

Coffee is serious.
Fireplace ash sprinkled on ice provides amazing traction.

So does cat litter, if you have cat.  I have used it to unstick a truck.
