Hello and Happy Holidays Alembic Guitars Club!
Received my repaired electronics from Alembic after the holiday and after delivery was delayed by the recent California storms.
So excited to have this bass complete and back to playing after starting this project back in April!
It sounds great, and has an amazingly quiet noise floor. It was suffering from a shorted hum cancellor lead (at epoxy) and couple of bad pots on the pf-6 card, which were microphonic, and oscillating an unpleasant hi freq.
Still have some minor PU height adjustments to do, but extremely happy with the work they did!
Note*
When I purchased it, this bass had a hum cancellor that was elevated by a chunk of poly /clear epoxy so it did not sit level with surface and had an odd angle to it.
(maybe a refinish?)
When I re-installed it, the hum cancellor sits about 1/4" higher than the body, and installed with some hook and loop tape to keep secure (and removable?)
Doesn't affect sound, just doesn't look like most s-1's!
Weird to go to a long scale bass after playing the smaller scale, but wow these S-1 have some tone abilities!
