Anyone had a chance to try the Bose PAS with their Alembic?

Anyone have any thoughts or gig experience with the new Bose Personal Amplification System?

Someome mentioned those about a year ago but I don't recall anyone buying them or reporting on them. For bass, they show a configuragion of 6 (count 'em S-I-X) little subwoofers and the power base at 2,499.00 (I think)..  Also, I don't think that there is a line-out on these.  Bose isn't very forthcoming on their website but it appears, in their diagram, that these are intended to be used as FOH. I'd like to audition them and see how many teeth I can rattle, but I can't find them anywhere.  Any hints?

I have played the P.A.S., and for the same money you can have a real amp, the P.A.S. sounded good at low volume it sound alright but at high volume I didn't think it would hold up, if you plug in to the PA maybe, but at $2400 you can havc any number of pro amps.
 
if there's no low's, it must be Bose
for the same money try a Mesa/Boogie 400+ and a speaker box of your choice and have money left over.

That's quite a rig you got there.  Now I don't feel so guilty for having a total of thirty-six (36) Ampeg 10 drivers in my rig.  Ridiculous?  Of course!  In my tiny little mind, too much is never enough.

The best thing in the rig are of course the little plates markin Homaid (if I remember well).

If you like distortion and no clarity with very little bottom, you will love the Bose system! Save your money and buy a real rig or should I say for a lot less money buy a real rig?

I agree with the other negative comments on the BOSE for bass applications anyway.It might be excellent for folk guitar/vocals but not bass.I played a stock Jazz Bass through it and it would not handle any bass at all(tower only)then we added in one bass module and it was somewhat better but not by much then finally two bass modules and the tower and the wimpy bass sound was still wimpy only louder.If your looking for better spread on the sound and this is your budget sans electronics might I suggest a BagEnd infra sub with two wedge shaped TA 2000's on top to spread the highs/mids the bass will already be omni directional.Eden also has two versions of a wedge shaped 2x10 and so,in a similar fashion,place them on end on top of their sub or anyone else's PA tops etc.You get the picture.

Ever notice how Bose always has a better idea?My apologies to Ford MoCo, LOL! While I do not dislike the stupid overpriced clock radio they make (got it as a gift), I wouldn't buy it on my own, LOL!. As a hi-fi guy from way back, Bose and their advertising hype never ceases to amaze me. Despite Julian Hirsch's gushing Stereo Review magazine articles (never met equipment he didn't like, LOL!), their stuff has always sounded like crap!  
 
I have to admit, I too was intriqued by the idea of the PAS and immediately thought of Ron's Wall of Sound that he did for the Dead. While that system, unlike the Bose, sounded awesome, it did have huge problems with microphone feedback, so everyone had to use a special (Alembic-designed) mic system. Eventually, the Dead nixed the concept, but kept the MacIntosh's and a lot of the Gauss-loaded cabs for instrument use.
