Need some NY city info on a place to try out a SC model
« on: June 19, 2004, 07:47:31 PM »
I'm going to be in New York city for a few days this coming Thursday June 24th.  I've owned a long scale Series I for years but I've never had the chance to play a Stanley Clarke.  I love my bass but it's BIG and I'm small.  Since I'm going to be in a big city I thought that the odds of me finding a store that might have a SC model would be pretty good.  This will be my first trip to NY so I'm clueless about where to go.  I'll be staying at a hotel that's right near Grand Central Station.

Any advice on where I might be able to sit down with a SC for a minute just to get the feel of one?  I didn't see any NY dealers listed for Alembic.

It sure seems like a disgrace, but there are no NYC (or NYS) Alembic Dealers. The NJ Dealer doesn't have one, but the guy in Conn. has one (G-Guitars). You'll have to hop on a long train ride or rent a car to get to them, though.

Your only other choice is to find a club member that has one that'll let you try his/hers.

Good luck

Actually g-guitars isnt that far from the train station~ maybe 1/2 a mile tops. If you're up for a 2+  hour train ride, that one's a definite. Perhaps there will be a used one waiting for you around 48th St!?!?!?

Either way good luck.
