Hello everyone, I just bought this beautiful Alembic bass. For me it's a series 1 in terms of the horn and the headstock, but the electronics are much simpler. I can't find any more information. Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance.

It appears to be a Spoiler with a "point" body. Controls are volume, filter, Q switch, and pickup selector.

Hi Mathieu,

Congrats on that beautiful Spoiler!

The body shape is the Large Body, in its Point variation, and the headstock shape is the Crown. It's an all-maple neck-through bass with Spoiler electronics, and the serial number contains an S, which make it a Spoiler.

For it to be classed as a Series I instrument, it would need to have Series I electronics, and it could have a Spoiler body shape but still be classed as a Series I bass. That's just the way it works with Alembics.

Mathieu, welcome to the club.

That's a nice looking bass!  And as you say, built in the style of a Series I which is pretty cool.  The serial number indicates it was made in '88 and the "S" does mean it's a Spoiler.  A more detailed explanation of the electronics package can be found here:

History requests can take some time because many of the files are on paper (can you imagine?) and the staff at HQ doesn't have much spare time.  So if you want to know more you must be patient.

Play it and enjoy that bass!!

edit: adriaan beat me to it.  ;-)

Thank you very much for your answers, yes indeed if everything is on paper it must take time, So to summarize I have a Hybrid Alembic, Series 1 for the body and the headstock Spoiler for the maple neck and Spoiler for the mechanics
Not a bad mix ^^

Because Alembic is a custom shop, you can order any combination of body / headstock / wood or electronics.  There are a few structural things that set apart the Series I and II instruments but I would say it's primarily the electronics package that makes it a Series.  So really I think what you have there is a Spoiler with a custom body shape and headstock which makes it a unique axe.  There may not be another like it!

Congratulations again.  Now make some music with that thing!!

Yes I think i prefer this bass to my sc signature
The sc is very hifi bass no soul
This one have a soul and a good growl i cant explain what but think is better than the stanley signature....
