Molex connector for Activator pickups: where to source ???
« on: July 23, 2025, 06:02:07 AM »

Can anyone point me to any retailers who sells the connector (and the metal clamp looking thing for the wires) for the activator pickups ????
I recently picked up a set of JZ pickup and filter circuit, but the pickups had the connectors removed....

I emailed Mica already, but I am sure they are super busy and if I can resolve this without bothering them, that would be ideal  :)

I'm in Nashville area right now, so local or USA source would be much preferred.

Thank you so much!!

I think it's either this:
https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/22-01-2027?qs=mrPiglD9aYJKMlTxBWhA%2Fg%3D%3D
or this:
https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/22-01-3027?qs=cRUT3GdJqnwywyFd19%252BSsA%3D%3D

But I can't say for certain.

The difference between those two pieces is the "locking" tabs and I've seen pics on the web of either version used with jz pickups.  So it may depend on which version of the connector is mounted on your filter board.  Also crimping might be tricky if you don't have the exact tool.

I bought one of those fairly inexpensive crimper tool kits from amazon.  It came with a great deal of molex type connectors and the metal connectors to thread inside.
I found it fairly difficult to make clean, well crimped connectors, despite the instructions. It took a fair amount of practice to get it "right".
Took a certain pressure, or the plug wouldn't work, too much and the crimper would pretty much crush the plug.
Probably went through 20 or more connectors, before getting 2 that worked.  After that I put the tool down, hope to not have to use again!
