Hello! Checking on 1980 Series 1 SN 80 1527 request, please

Hello all,
The omega series 1 that has been floating around has a new home.
And in short order, been pulled apart and addressing 2 issues- cracked headstock.
Crack leading to access panel.
Both coming along nicely.
The facing wood is unusual.  It “bleeds” red.  Thought koa, but don’t think so far more red.

The wood card will tell it true Ed, but I had this one plugged for Schedua. I'm glad it wound up with one of us, and better you than me. 😎 (I'm close to a deal on a 1913 Gibson F-2... it's gonna' cost me at least a couple nights' sleep and a long road trip...) 😄

Ah,
Not familiar with that wood at all, but it really cast some red on everything.   Congrats on the F-2.  Money is meant to flow, right?
Really pretty wood, amazingly red orange...
Headstock clamped as we speak.

It does remind me of the peghead on the 1976, different kind of grain, but that also tends to "bleed" when sanded or cleaned with acetone.
I was thinking that it had a red / orange stain / dye applied, but I know applying colorant or filler is not an alembic standard practice.
