I’m still pinching myself.  This is in fantastic condition, and frankly the price would have been good for an Epic.

While I tend to favor natural looking finished,I couldn’t pass this one up.

Would be interested in knowing what sort of wood and hardware this has.

Not sure I can answer your question, but that's a great looking Essence! Congrats!

Thank you both.

I was thinking it was maple, but none of the maple trees I’ve had in my yard have been blue, so I wasn’t sure.  ;)

You are probably aware that Alembic puts a clear finish before the color is applied over it. Makes it easy to change color or go natural in the future, the stain color doesn't penetrate the wood.

I remember reading that now that you mention it - thanks for the reminder.

Funny thing is, I had my eyes on a blue Spector a few years back, but got impatient and ended up with a different one - a limited edition spalted maple with a charcoal finish that they only made 10 of.

I think I’ll leave this as is from a color perspective. Sort of like having a Ferrari that isn’t red!

I can confirm the clear coat under the colour coat. I have an Elan which was see through purple and about 3 years back I had it stripped back to plain wood and re-finished in clearcoat. Had to let the maple quilt come throught. As for colour and resale value, the first time I saw my bass up for sale the purple colour put me off and I didn't buy it. The second time I didn't let the colour put me off and bought it.

Def a Maple top and the color you have is Caribbean Blue. I've never been there, but the water looks this color in the pictures I've seen :)

I can highly recommend St Kitts & Nevis if you are looking for a relaxing time.😂😇

Ask Joey about Green basses. Then run.  ;D

I think the Caribbean Blue is nice. I probably wouldn't pick it over a nice 'burst, but wouldn't shun it either. I really liked the 'Oceanburst' finish.

Sort of like how the writers of Country Roads had never been to WV!

They certainly got it right though - we cross the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah River multiple times per week and it’s gorgeous.

Green basses?  Green basses?

I prefer Alembics in color.  TYVM.
