All the new science in weed, doesn’t one of the thc’s or cbd’s (A, B, etc) focus on physical ‘numbing’?
yeah ive got some high concentration rub that i use on my aching joints and it's quite effective, especially when combined with voltarin. to the point where i stopped taking NSAIDs over a year ago.  just had the splint redone.  surgery monday 0900 gonna put a plate in to mend the breaks. doc says ill walk in a month.. this pain goes beyond rub, so im on pills.  don't like, it id rather be smoking dope but don't wanna compromise my balance since im on crutches.  but since im done for the day, gonna get horizontal and baked to the gills here shortly.  yay! 😵‍💫🤯

It is a fact (proven both scientifically & by my own experience) that weed increases the efficacy of opioids, allowing for smaller doses.

well times have changed since i've had to do serious pain relief.  in the old days if ya tweaked yer back or whatever, they'd write ya script for about 50 horse pills of 10 mgs vicodin and then call ya back to see if ya need more.  these days yer lucky if ya gets 12 x 5mgs no refill so don't ask.
that being said, yesterday afternoon i was hurting so i dropped a 5mg. vicodin and vaped a chamber of 32% flower.  woke up 3 hrs later.  the sun had set.  the dog wanted out.  so yeah, i'd say enhanced.
i really don't like taking vicodin.  the threat of dependancy is always there.  i get itchy skin and it tends to constipate me so it's not really my thing.  i guess i'm an outlier in that regard.

I guess I'm lucky in a couple of ways.  1, my primary is quite open to managing my pain (which is both serious & long-term/recurring) and will prescribe me what I need,  and 2, I seem to be able to kick OK.  3 times I have had to take hydrocodone (combined with 500mg of acetaminophen it's Vicodin - which they no longer make for reasons i will explain in second - and with 375mg is Norco) for extended periods; twice for over a year, once for over 3 years.  In each case I was able to stop fine; not enjoyable, but not difficult (the second time, just because I'm a contrary SOB, I did it keeping 2 pills in my pocket the whole time).
But I am hoping my upcoming surgery will have me feeling well enough soon enough that I can drop them before the week-and-a-half joy of twitchiness is an issue; like I said - not hard, but less than a good time.

As to the end of Vicodin:  The hydrocodone isn't the real problem; my 1st pain doc told that a major problem was it getting diverted to the street, and people taking a buttload to get off - and the acetaminophen shutting down their livers.   Yep - Tylenol ODs (which are usually blamed on the narcotic, but the Tylenol will kill you first.  Though being killed by Tylenol is not a new concept for those of us who were living in Chicago when the Extra Strength Tylenide killings happened.......)

Peter (who lost his baby brother to Fentanyl-laced Percocet - but will save for another time his thoughts on how tighter controls on opioids are a major contributing factor to what they like to call "the opioid crisis")

sorry to hear of your loss.  i think i tend toward an addictive personality which is why i avoid opioids like the plague.  thankfully my pain isn't that severe.  my ribs hurt more than my foot.  the worst part of this is keeping up with my daily activities while on crutches.  i'm 69.  living on my own, no support network.  the dishes still need to be washed, the laundry still has to be done.  gotta take bird baths or smell like a street person.  got a rowdy 2 1/2 year old golden who doesn't understand why she can't get in dad's lap and wrestle anymore.  i've gone from burning 3200 calories a day to  maybe 1000.  gonna get a plate put in my foot tomorrow.
but, as the song goes - i will survive.  dunno how many more of these i got left, tho.

There are few things in this world that make this world better as much as a Golden does!

Mine passed in '13; this is the longest i have ever been dogless, but, 1) it's easier to go visit grandkids (none of whom live in my time zone) without finding care for a pup, and 2) she was so perfect I'm afraid any other pooch would be a letdown.

just gott back from surgery.  still kinda groggy.  100% improvement in pain and mobility.  can't drive today so might as well cop a (mild) buzz and see if the MKD is more comfortable than the headless playing a 2 hr. set sitting.  that headless is great standing up. playing it seated, not so much.  memorial day is 6 weeks away.  the show must go on.  8)
